What It’s About: Filmmaker Guy Maddin (Darcy Fehr) wants to escape his hometown, Winnipeg, but first he must exorcise his demons-by shooting reenactments of key scenes of his childhood with actors and his mother (Ann Savage).

Why Watch it Today?:  Woven into Maddin’s fantasy is a documentary covering Winnipeg, its history, and its disappearing landmarks.  One of the events covered is the Winnipeg General Strike, which turned violent today in 1919.
