Cast and Crew: Walter Huston, S. Z. Sakall
What It’s About: The life and times of composer, playwright, actor, dancer and singer George M. Cohan (James Cagney).
Why Watch it Today?: Today is Flag Day, which marks the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag and a holiday since 1916. George M. Cohan wrote the best known American song from the Great War, Over There, and Michael Curtiz’s 1942 biopic, musical and propaganda film celebrates Cohan’s life, but also his deep connection and love of America. Consequently, the film is packed with flags; it is also a wonderfully entertaining film.
