What It’s About: An expedition in search of a humanoid amphibian fossil in the Amazon rainforest discovers that the creature is very much alive, and very dangerous.

Why Watch it Today?: Director Jack Arnold was born today in 1916.  Arnold has a string of sci-fi/monster movie hits in the 1950s before settling in as a regular director on television.  Creature from the Black Lagoon is one of Arnold’s best and most beloved titles, the most iconic Universal movie monster of the 1950s and still a wonderfully entertaining creature feature.
