What It’s About: The members of an infantry squad in the U.S. Army’s First Infantry Division (“The Big Red One”) fight their way through the war, from North Africa to Sicily to D-Day, Belgium, France and finally to a death camp.

Why Watch it Today?:  Today is V-E Day, marking the end of the Second World War in Europe.  The Big Red One is based on writer/director Samuel Fuller’s experiences serving in the “Big Red One” during the War and gives a broad view of the European theater, covering most of the major actions from the viewpoint of grunts in the infantry.

    It seems this movie doesn’t get enough attention when war movies are discussed, which is a shame because it’s a really good movie and one of my favorites.
