August 15th, 2013: Woodstock (1970)

Cast and Crew: Michael Wadleigh (director), Thelma Schoonmaker (editor), Martin Scorsese (assistant director)

What It’s About: Not only does Woodstock feature performances by a selection of the 32 acts that performed over 3 1/2 days at Max Yasgur’s farm, but it also chronicles the non-musical antics of the festival participants and the effect it had on the community in which it takes place. It is also Robert Neville’s favorite/only film in The Omega Man.

Why Watch it Today?: The Woodstock Music & Art Fair began on this date in 1969.
