Cast and Crew: Nancy Meyers (Writer/Director/Producer); Hans Zimmer (Score); Dean Cundey (Cinematography); Edward Burns, Rufus Sewell, Bill Macy, Shelley Berman, Kathryn Hahn, John Krasinski, James Franco, Dustin Hoffman, Lindsay Lohan
What It’s About: Right before Christmas, Californian Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz) and English Iris Simpkins (Kate Winslet) swap homes to get away from man trouble. Once safely ensconced in their new digs, the pair proceed to meet cute new men (Jude Law and Jack Black) and fall in love.
Why Watch it Today?: Iris arrives in L.A. on December 18th. As far as romantic comedy programmers set during the holidays go, you could do worse than The Holiday, which makes up for its faults with an engaging late career performance by Eli Wallach as a 90-year-old screenplay writer that befriends Iris, seasonal theme, and, by the virtue of Kate Winslet being in it.
