What It’s About: William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffud) fights to end British involvement in the slave trade.

Why Watch it Today?: The Slave Act, which Wilberforce fought so hard for, passed today in 1807.  Although Amazing Grace at times falls into historical drama formula, the subject matter, great supporting cast and director Michael Apted keep the formula from overwhelming the film.
