What It’s About: Oskar Schindler attempts to save the lives of over a thousand refugees during the Holocaust by using them as employees in his factories. The film was based on a biographical novel by Thomas Keneally.

Why Watch it Today?: After spending nearly his entire fortune on bribes and supplies for his workers, Schindler moved about Europe and South America, never again finding financial success in the business world. Schindler died on this day in 1974 and was buried shortly thereafter in Jersusalem.
