What It’s About: Greaser Danny (John Travolta) and Aussie goody-two shoes Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) have some “Summer Lovin'” before they say goodbye, not expecting to see each other again.  When Sandy’s parents decide to stay in America, she and Danny meet again in high school but don’t get along when neither acts the way they expect them to.  What are the chances that the two will be together by the end of the school year?

Why Watch it Today?: John Tavolta was born today in 1954Grease was Travolta’s second lead role (after getting his start on TV with Welcome Back, Kotter and scoring his first lead role with Saturday Night Fever), the film version of a role he previously appeared on stage in.

Other Choices:  Travolta’s career was revived by his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, only for him to kill it again with the insanely bad novelty project Battlefield Earth.
