What It’s About: An IRA cell kidnaps British soldier Jody (Forest Whitaker) from a carnival using Jude (Miranda Richardson) as bait.  They plan on exchanging Jody for their own prisoners, but everyone seems to realize this is an unlikely prospect.  Although most of the cell members avoid contact with Jody, Fergus (Stephen  Rhea) is kind to him, and the pair strike up a strange friendship.  Jody tells Fergus about his girlfriend, Dil (Jaye Davidson), and asks him to find her if things go wrong…

Why Watch it Today?:  Writer/Director Neil Jordan was born today in 1950.  Known mainly for its famous twist, The Crying Game is an excellent thriller and romantic drama, well worth seeing.  Read our full review here.
