Why Watch it Today?: Robert Ludlum died today in 2001. Ludlum’s The Bourne Identity novel was previously adapted into a mini-series in the 1980s, but it was Doug Liman’s film that really took off, resulting in a trilogy of well-regarded films that revived the flagging espionage genre.
