What It’s About: Legendary Broadway director Julian Marsh (Warner Baxter), on the verge of a nervous breakdown, does one last show in attempt to get enough money to retire. Aging star Dorothy “Dot” Brock (Bebe Daniels) uses her charms to get small town big spender Abner Dillon (Guy Kibbe)to finance her latest show. Her lover, Pat Denning (George Brent), taught her the business back in vaudeville but hasn’t enjoyed her success since. Peggy Sawyer (Ruby Keeler) is the fresh, wide-eyed new girl; chorus girls Lolly (Una Merkel) and “Anytime” Annie (Ginger Rogers) show Sawyer the ropes. Billy Lawler (Dick Powell) is the young star of the show who takes a shine to Sawyer. I’m sure you will all hold your breath as you wait to see if Marsh can pull off one last show, and if Peggy will get her star turn and fall in love with Billy…
