What It’s About: Michael (Harold P. Warren), Margaret (Diane Mahree) and their daughter Debbie (Jackey Neyman) get lost in the desert and stop at the nearest house, where they find Torgo (John Reynolds) the disfigured servant of The Master (Tom Neyman). The Master seeks to add Margaret and Debbie to the ranks of his brides, who live underneath the house worshiping The Master. Can the family escape before it’s too late?
Why Watch it Today?: Manos was just another forgotten, low-budget, barely released, incompetent feature cobbled together by amateurs in hopes of striking it rich in the big drive-in market of the 1960s until Mystery Science Theater 3000 featured it in their January 30th, 1993 episode. Manos quickly became a fan favorite, spawning a cult both for the Torgo character and the film itself, including fan efforts to restore the film, live events, video games, web tributes, and more.
No official trailer, but here’s the trailer for the MST3K DVD.
