Cast and Crew: John Barry (Score); James Fox, Patrick O’Neal, Denholm Elliott, Joe Turkel, Richard Dawson
What It’s About: Captured with the fall of Singapore, Corporal King (George Segal) is the “King” of Changi prison camp, wheeling and dealing to get what the men want and need, but as the war approaches its end, and the POWs suspect the Japanese will simply massacre the entire camp, can King find a way to stave off the end?
Why Watch it Today?: The British liberated Singapore on this date in 1945. King Rat is a thought-provoking entry in the POW camp sub-genre, with Segal giving an excellent performance in the title role.
