What It’s About: In the summer of 1963, two men meet and fall in love while herding sheep in the mountains of Wyoming.  Because of the time and place they are unable to be with each other openly and go on to unhappy marriages and lives.

Why Watch it Today?: Massachusetts State Supreme Court declared that same-sex couples are constitutionally entitled to full marriage rights today in 2004Brokeback Mountain is an excellent dramatic film, winning Ang Lee Best Director, writers Larry McMurty and Diana Ossana Best Adapted Screenplay, and composer Gustavo Santaolalla Best Score Oscars, as well as Best Picture, Cinematography, and acting nominations for Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Michelle Williams.
