Why Watch it Today?: The climax of the film takes place near the magnetic South Pole in Antarctica, which members of Shackleton’s Nimrod Expedition located on this date in 1909.

    Antarctica! I learned from “The Stuff You Should Know” podcast that Antarctica is protected by treaty from all war. Foolish aliens didn’t know they were forcing us to contravene treaties!
