November 16th, 2013: The Orphanage

The Orphanage

Cast and Crew: J.A. Bayona (Director); Sergio G. Sanchez (Writer); Belen Rueda, Fernando Cayo, Roger Princep, Mabel Rivera

What It’s About: When Laura plans to reopen the orphanage where she was raised, she finds that her past has been waiting there. Her own adopted child goes missing, and a game the orphans played holds the clues to his location. Can she win and restore her family before it’s too late?

Why Watch It Today?: Today is National Adoption Day. While being technically a horror movie, “The Orphanage” is very much concerned with the need of children for willing caretakers. It’s a lovely story about finding one’s home.

Other Options: It Happened One Night
