Cast and Crew: Jim Reardon (Director, Writer, Animator)
What It’s About: The Great Pumpkin (Jeff Pidgeon) puts a bounty on Charlie Brown’s (Etienne Badillo) head and all hell breaks loose.
Why Watch it Today?: The beloved Peanuts comic strip debuted on this date in 1950, eventually giving rise to a beloved series of TV specials, movies and a stage play. By 1986 the series was an institution worthy of this hilarious, ultra violent student short that melds Sam Peckinpah’s bloody sensibilities with Charles Schultz’s iconic art work and the cartoon series signature voice work.
Other Choices: We’ve previously featured It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown as our “Movie” of the Day.
