September 8th, 2013: A Shot in the Dark (1964)

A Shot in the Dark

Cast and Crew: Blake Edwards (Director, Co-Writer, Producer); William Peter Blatty (Co-Writer); Henry Mancini (Score); Elke Sommer, George Sanders, Herbert Lom, Burt Kwouk

What It’s About:  Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) must investigate a murder at a wealthy and well-connected household where everyone is a suspect…

Why Watch it Today?:  Peter Sellers was born on this date  in 1925.  Although today’s film is a sequel, and a Clouseau film which does not feature the Pink Panther, it is one of the best films in the series, a parody of drawing-room murder mysteries.

Other Choices: Peter Sellers also starred in former Movies of the Day Doctor Strangelove and Murder By Death
